The Weakerthans come from Winnipeg, Manitoba, the geographic center of North America. Their deeply lyrical music speaks of the vast open spaces and broken industrial dreams in which it was created. Founded in 1997 by former Propagandhi bassist turned guitarist/frontman John K. Sampson, The Weakerthans hold deep roots in the indie scene, with drummer Jason Tait also recording and touring as part of indie collective Broken Social Scene.
