Kick Out the Jams was the 1969 debut album by the hard punk rockers, MC5. The album was recorded live at Detroit's Grande Ballroom over two nights, Devil's Night and Halloween 1968. The album features the singles "Ramblin' Rose", "Rocket Reducer No. 62" and of course "Kick Out The Jams".
Controversy surrounded this album upon release due to the opening line to the title track when vocalist Rob Tyner shouted "and right now... right now... right now it's time to... kick out the jams... M**F**er!". After one department store refused to sell any album from Elektra due to the controversial album and subsequent issues, the label dropped the group in order to end the conflict and avoid further financial.
