The phenomenal debut of Soundcloud superstar Kaytranada features many collaborators (Syd, Anderson .Paak) and many drums. He excels at chopping samples, but his colorful sound is never derivative. Kay's inventive percussion keeps the album upbeat, but it's often a dreamy, mellow listen, perhaps a result of the producer's effort to broaden perceptions of his capabilities.
