Fukumura Hiroshi Quintet [Limited Edition] (Vinyl) is a landmark Japanese jazz recording by the Hiroshi Fukumura Quintet, originally released in 1973 on the legendary Three Blind Mice (TBM) label. Widely regarded as one of the defining releases in the TBM catalog, the album captures the remarkable artistry of trombonist Hiroshi Fukumura in his debut outing as a bandleader.
A standout feature of the album is the powerful dual-trombone frontline shared by Hiroshi Fukumura and Shigeharu Mukai. Their lyrical yet aggressive interplay creates a rich and dynamic sound, supported by Hiroshi Tamura on piano, Tsutomu Okada on bass, and Shinji Mori on drums. Together, they deliver a compelling blend of post-bop sophistication, expressive improvisation, and exceptional ensemble chemistry.
