Sit Down Young Stranger is the fifth album by iconic Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot and was his first release for the Reprise label. The 1970 release, powered in part by the oft-covered hit single "If You Could Read My Mind" (a song which this album was briefly re-named after for a brief period in the 70s) was the bestselling album of Lightfoot's storied career.
Lightfoot's first release to feature his long-time electric bass guitarist Rick Haynes, the album also introduced more complex orchestrations than his earlier work for United Artists and features arrangements by Randy Newman on album opener "Minstrel of the Dawn" and "Approaching Lavender".
Remastered from the original analog tapes and features a faithful reproduction of the original photograph-only sleeve.
