The Strokes returned in 2011 with their fourth album, Angles. It was the group's first album in over five years, following 2005's First Impressions of Earth. The album attempts to rebuild the band from the ground up.
Whereas Casablancas had previously written nearly every part of the group's songs including guitar solos and basslines, he steps back on Angles, which features songs from other members. Highlights include the singles "Under Cover of Darkness" and "Taken for a Fool".
