Sloan are the kind of band where, at least for the first five records, you need the albums, not the greatest hits. Nothing exemplifies this more than Twice Removed, their second record. It is as close to a perfect album as Sloan have ever gotten. Almost every song was hit-worthy. The sound was fresh. The band were cooking on all fours. As far as pop rock goes, it doesn't get any better than Twice Removed, at least not in the 1990's.
